Overview
Do you really expect to get paid? is the fifth study in a series carried out over the past 30 years at Macquarie University, with funding from the Australia Council. The survey profiles the careers of artists across all major art forms and is based on interviews with 1,030 practising professional Australian artists.
The surveys provide information about the economic circumstances of artists including topics such as training and education, employment, income and expenditure and the changing context of artistic practice. This survey, undertaken in 2009 and covering the 2007-08 financial year, updates and expands the information collected in the earlier studies.
