Carmen Ansaldo is a freelance arts writer, activist and arts worker based between Darwin and Katherine in the Northern Territory. They currently work at Katherine Regional Arts and organise the Darwin Free University. Carmen has worked in remote and regional art centres within the Northern Territory and Western Australia, as well as major national arts institutions including the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and the Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art. Carmen has also worked and studied internationally in Long Island, New York and Berlin, Germany.
Carmen’s arts journalism has featured extensively in national and international print and online publications over the past 10 years. Their professional interests lie in Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contemporary art practices and remote and regional arts development, as well as the labour issues and critical museology studies associated with this production.
