The Honourable Don Harwin served in the NSW Parliament for 23 years in a range of roles, including 5 years as the Minister for the Arts and 6 years as President of the Legislative Council. During this time, he secured over $2.5 billion in funding for over 150 cultural infrastructure projects (including the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall upgrade, Walsh Bay re-development, Sydney Modern at AGNSW, the Powerhouse Museums at Parramatta, Ultimo and Castle Hill, and the Bundanon Art Museum). He also secured the future of the National Arts School and the Theatre Royal Sydney.
He has been appointed to the Advisory Committee of Roc Partners, one of the largest and most experienced private markets investment managers in the Asia Pacific and, also serves as a Trustee of a small legacy public sector superannuation fund with over $500 million under management. He is Director of Harwin Advisory, a firm established to act as a key catalyst in fostering the role that arts and culture can play in place-making.
He serves a Board Member of the Australia Youth Trust and of Music in the Regions Ltd. Previously, he has served as the Co-Chair of the NSW Joint Council on Closing the Gap, the NSW Representative on the COAG Energy Council, a Board Member of the NSW State Archives and Records Authority and a Member of the NSW Sesquicentenary of Responsible Government Committee.
He is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and a Member of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees.
