International tours by five local bands will take off with $80,000 in funding from the Australia Council for the Arts.
Youth Group, Dappled City Fly, The Presets, This Is Your Captain Speaking and The Audreys received grants of between $10,000 and $20,000 to tour various locations in North America and Europe as part of the International Pathways initiative.
Australia Council director of Music, Kate Lidbetter, said that International Pathways has given a boost to more than 150 Australian performers over the past five years.
‘The John Butler Trio, the Cat Empire, Resin Dogs, Gelbison and Rocket Science are just some of the names who received International Pathways funding in the past,’ she said.
There are four rounds of International Pathways this year. Applications for the next round close on 15 March.
