The Australia Council for the Arts is deeply saddened by the passing of Australian jazz drummer and composer Allan Browne.
Mr Browne was a significant leader in Australia’s music culture.
He received the Australia Council’s Don Banks Award in 2001, numerous Australian Jazz Bell Awards and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2004.
The Australia Council is proud to have supported Mr Browne during his career, including providing grants for three albums and a tour. He was also a member of the Australia Council’s former Music Board.
The Australia Council extends its deepest sympathies to Mr Browne’s family.
