The Australia Council for the Arts was pleased to submit its response to the National Cultural Policy Discussion Paper recently. The Australia Council believes a National Cultural Policy will provide an important opportunity to build on past and current investment in the arts, and to take into account trends and opportunities presented by Australia in the 21st century.
In developing its response to the ideas and aspirations outlined in the paper, the Australia Council has drawn from its research as well as consultation with and by its artform boards, the sector and its staff. Each board developed their own responses to the discussion paper, which were presented to Council to inform the development of the Australia Council submission. We have included these responses as attachments in our submission.
