The Australia Council for the Arts today announced that 25 small to medium theatre companies will receive key organisations funding in 2009.
The 25 companies will receive total funding worth more than $5 million next year, with 11 companies receiving key organisations grants for the first time. On average, the size of key organisations grants will increase by 42 per cent in 2009, compared to 2008.
The Australia Council’s theatre board assessed applications to the funding category at their June 2008 meeting, as the culmination of their two-year Make It New consultation process into the best ways to support the theatre sector.
