The Australia Council for the Arts today welcomed the appointment of Tanja Liedtke as artistic director of Sydney Dance Company.
Australia Council chief executive officer Kathy Keele said: ‘Tanja Liedtke is one of Australia’s most innovative choreographers.
‘She has choreographed works in countries ranging from Germany to Brazil, with her latest work construct to be premiered at the Barbican in London next month.
‘She has also won several awards, including two Australian Dance Awards last year for her work Twelfth Floor.
‘Her work at home and in the international arena is helping strengthen Australia’s position as a world leader in contemporary dance.
‘We wish her all the best as she takes on this important role in Australian dance.’
