Industry leaders Sue Giles and Simon Abrahams have been engaged by Creative Australia to prepare a concise Analysis and Strategic Advice Report on Children, Young People and the Arts.
This report will include a summary of the needs of the children and youth arts sector and will propose key actions which may inform future strategy development by Creative Australia.
It will have a national focus and provide evidence of the value and importance of arts for children and young people aged 0 to 24 years across all artforms (except screen and gaming). The project’s scope is limited to strategic consultation only and does not include broad public consultation.
In February 2024, the Australian Government announced the establishment of a Creative Industries Youth Advisory Group, which is one of six youth advisory groups run by the Office for Youth (part of the Department of Education) in 2024. Creative Australia is working closely with the Office for the Arts in the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts to support the Creative Industries Youth Advisory Group in their work.
This includes providing advice and feedback on the implementation of key initiatives that affect young people under the National Cultural Policy Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place.
