Creative Australia Fellowships to support 10 leading Australian artists

Creative Australia has announced the recipients of its 2024 Fellowships, supporting the work and professional development of leading Australian artists. 

Critically acclaimed visual artist Hoda Afshar and Australian dance music artist and producer Nina Agzarian (also known as Nina Las Vegas) are among the 10 Fellowship recipients.  

Each worth $80,000, Creative Australia Fellowships support outstanding established artists and arts workers’ activity and professional development for up to two years. 

Candice Lloyd will use her First Nations Fellowship to establish a studio and mentoring program supporting First Nations women in music production. Nick Power’s Dance Fellowship will support the creation of Australia’s first professional hip hop dance theatre company, creating connections across the Asia Pacific. 

Executive Director Arts Investment Alice Nash said:  

“These Fellowships are an important investment in Australia’s creative talent, supporting outstanding artists to develop their practice and create new works that reflect a dynamic and contemporary Australia. We look forward to seeing the impact these Fellowships will have, for the artists themselves and for audiences and communities across Australia.”

  • Michael Candy, Queensland: Emerging and Experimental Arts 
  • Ben Graetz, Victoria: First Nations 
  • Candice Lloyd, Northern Territory: First Nations 
  • Roslyn Oades, Victoria: Theatre 
  • Nick Power, New South Wales: Dance 
  • Nathan Stoneham, Queensland: Community and Cultural Development 
  • Ellen van Neerven, Queensland: Literature
