DIRECTOR APPOINTED FOR NEW INTER-ARTS OFFICE

The Australia Council welcomes the appointment of Andrew Donovan as director of the inter-arts office, a new section of the Council established to support hybrid arts activities and emerging arts practices that are outside existing artform categories.

Mr Donovan brings to the role extensive experience across the arts having worked as an actor, playwright, writer, facilitator and arts administrator in both regional and metropolitan areas throughout Australia.

Mr Donovan began his career in Adelaide as an ensemble member of Troupe Theatre (1987-88) and was a founding member of  the Red Shed Company (1988-93). He has held positions with the State Theatre of South Australia, Patch Theatre Company and has worked as a writer and performer for community-based theatre in regional areas including the Riverland and southern South Australia and in Albury-Wodonga in NSW.

He joined the Australia Council in 1994 and has led the Council’s new media arts board since 2002.
