The Australia Council for the Arts has announced the appointment of Susan Hayes as its director of literature.
As director of literature, Susan Hayes will play an important role in the Australian literary sector and within the Australia Council.
Susan comes to the Australia Council from Copyright Agency Limited, where she managed CAL’s philanthropic cultural fund for three years, sponsoring state-based and national initiatives in writing and publishing. She was state literature officer for Western Australia and managed the Australian National Playwrights’ Centre in Sydney. She has also held positions at the Centre for Studies in Australian Literature at the University of Western Australia and on the literary journal Westerly.
Susan is a Churchill Fellow and has an MPhil. in Australian Studies, with a major stream in Australian literature. She has edited anthologies of short fiction for the University of Western Australia Press.
