The Australia Council for the Arts today announced the appointment of Sandra Bender as its new executive director of arts development.
As executive director of arts development, Sandra Bender will provide leadership for the arts sector across audience and market development, research and analysis, and strategic development.
Sandra is currently the Australia Council’s director of market development, and has a wealth of experience in arts strategy and market development.
Prior to commencing at the Australia Council, she was head of the Canada Council for the Arts’ market and audience development office. During her 10 years working at the Canada Council, she led many successful audience and market development initiatives and programs. She has also worked in several major visual arts and music organisations and commercial enterprises in Europe and North America, including the National Gallery of Canada.
She will replace Karilyn Brown, who has had a distinguished career at the Australia Council and successfully led the organisation’s audience and market development over the past eight years.
