Music Australia’s Export Development Fund celebrates 12 months of global impact

Music Australia has announced the latest recipients of investment through its Export Development Fund, marking 12 months since the program launched.

The fourth round of investment sees over $1 million invested in 85 projects, involving a range of artists; from solo acts to bands, producers, composers and songwriters, to undertake career-defining activities around the world.

The Export Development Fund is a matched funding initiative, designed to elevate emerging, breakthrough, and established acts into the international market, whilst fostering sustainable and thriving careers. The program focuses on three key pathways:Performance and Touring,  Professional and Artistic Development  and  Market and Audience Development.

Since its launch, the Export Development Fund has successfully supported over 330 projects to date, highlighting the importance of a dedicated contemporary music export program in Australia. 

Among the highlights of the 85 supported projects: 

  • Fast-rising producer and DJ Tobiahs will embark on his debut US & Canadian tour, in support of his viral single ‘Angel of Mine’. 
  • Naarm/Melbourne based, North-Queensland raised, Proud Kuku Yalanji, Jirrbal, Zenadth Kes song woman Kee’ahn will showcase their debut EP at the International Indigenous Music Summit (IIMS) in Toronto.  
  • Canberra-based South African afro-pop artist KG will travel to South Africa to write and record his next album with award-winning producer Master A Flat. 
  • Alternative-rock artist Alex Lahey will support Laura Jean Grace on her North American Tour in June 2025. 
  • Contemporary classical composer Connor D’Netto will undertake a 3-week artist residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux in France. 
  • JACOTÉNE will expand her artistic practice and engage in extensive co-writing with producers and artists in the UK and the US. 
  • Proud Wiradjuri artist and rapper YNG Martyr will embark on his debut European tour. 
  • Grammy-nominated producer Styalz Fuego will undertake a month-long writing trip to LA to work on Troye Sivan’s next record. 

Applications for the next round of the Export Development Fund close on 1 April 2025.
