The Australia Council for the Arts has announced the appointment of Elizabeth Proust to its major performing arts board and Fiona Winning to its theatre board.
Ms Proust and Ms Winning were appointed by the Minister for the Arts Peter Garrett to serve three year terms on the respective boards.
Elizabeth Proust has held leadership roles in the private and public sectors in Australia for almost 25 years. She is a board member of Perpetual Ltd, Spotless Ltd, Insurance Manufacturers Australia Pty Ltd, and Sinclair Knight Merz. She was previously chair of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and managing director of Esanda.
Fiona Winning is an independent writer and producer. She spent nearly a decade as director of the Performance Space, an international contemporary arts hub based in Sydney. She was instrumental in negotiating the development of the new CarriageWorks contemporary arts space in Redfern, Sydney.
