Two specially-commissioned Australian dance works will be screened on ABC Television in April 2008.
ABC dance4film will premiere five new Australian and UK works – including The Banquet Room (Sean O’Brien, Yumi Umimare and Moira Finucaine) and Quietly Collapsed (Rosie Dennis and Samuel James) – as well as some of the best existing international dance films.
The program is a unique international broadcast partnership between Australia Council for the Arts, ABC Television, Channel 4 and Arts Council England.
‘The works commissioned represent an investment in the diversity of Australian dance practice and a combination of support for emerging and established talent in this field,’ said Jennifer McLachlan, the Australia Council’s director of dance.
‘We’re enormously excited about this international broadcast partnership which profiles Australian dancers and filmmakers on National and International television.’
