The Australia Council for the Arts today announced the appointment of Dr Catherine Brown-Watt PSM to the new position of executive director, governance and public affairs.
Dr Brown-Watt will lead the Australia Council’s newly-created governance and public affairs section. She has spent the past seven years working at the Australia Council as executive director major performing arts.
‘We are delighted that Cathy will head up our newly-created governance and public affairs division,’ said Australia Council chief executive officer Kathy Keele.
‘Her extensive knowledge, skills and experience across strategic planning, governance and stakeholder relations – and the high regard in which she is held throughout the arts sector – make her ideal for this crucial new role.
‘The governance and public affair section will oversee the Australia Council’s many relationships with governments, the Council and key stakeholders.’
The recruitment of an executive director, major performing arts to replace Dr Brown-Watt has commenced (see attached advertisement). Pending this appointment, Dr Brown-Watt will continue to oversee the major performing arts area.
