The Australia Council for the Arts announced the appointment of James Boyd as West Australian manager for Artsupport Australia, its initiative to grow cultural philanthropy.
Mr Boyd will mentor artists and arts organisations throughout WA, helping them grow new income streams through donor programs and philanthropic grants. He will also help WA philanthropists and donors by research and brokering relationships with the local arts community.
James Boyd comes to Artsupport Australia with extensive arts management, marketing and fundraising experience. He is currently executive manager of development at the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, where he manages award-winning corporate arts sponsorship and philanthropy programs valued at over $3 million per year. He has also worked as director of the City of Joondalup’s Cultural Development Program and general manager of Effie Crump Theatre.
He replaces Liesbeth Goedhart, who significantly boosted philanthropic support for the arts in WA over the past twelve months.
The WA manager position is supported with assistance from the WA Department of Culture and the Arts.
