Undergrowth – Australian Arts UK will be officially launched in July by the Australian High Commissioner Richard Alston and Australia Council CEO Jennifer Bott in London.
At the same time Australian sports and culture take centre stage on sporting fields and performance venues across the UK. The Ashes, The Australian Ballet and Circus Oz tours kick off this month creating a strong groundswell of interest in all things Australian.
The complete Undergrowth season brochure for 2005 will be released to coincide with the launch.
The program features emerging and well-established arts companies presenting new work in the UK. It includes a strong line-up of innovative Australian dance, film, visual arts, music and physical theatre, which already has attracted sell-out UK audiences following highly successful tours by Australian Dance Theatre, Sydney Dance Company, Legs on the Wall and the Necks earlier this year.
Undergrowth – Australian Arts UK is a two-year contemporary arts promotion program in the UK in 2005 and 2006. This program is an initiative of the Australian Government through the Australia Council and the Australia International Cultural Council, an initiative of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
