PPCA AND THE AUSTRALIA COUNCIL ANNOUNCE A NEW ROUND OF RECORDING GRANTS

Following a successful second round, PPCA is delighted to again partner with the Australia Council and offer another series of $15,000 grants to assist Australian artists with new sound recordings.

Previous recipients have included classical guitarists Slava and Leonard Grigoryan, jazz ensemble The Vampires, Perth’s The Growl, singer and guitarist Mia Dyson and Courtney Barnett.

Dan Rosen, PPCA Chief Executive Officer said “We are really pleased to be able to offer these grants again, and contribute to the diversity of Australian music. The response to last year’s initiative was incredibly strong and a great indication of the quality of our recording artists. Following a successful second round, PPCA is delighted to again partner with the Australia Council and offer another series of $15,000 grants to assist Australian artists with new sound recordings.

“I would also like to congratulate Courtney Barnett, a recipient of the first round of PPCA & Australia Council grants, who won four ARIA Awards this year, and her first Grammy Nomination in the Best New Artist category for her debut album ‘Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit’ through Milk Records / Remote Control.

“We look forward to working with the Australia Council again to help more local artists realise their musical ambition.”

Australia Council Chief Executive Officer Tony Grybowski said the Council was delighted to again partner with the PPCA on this important initiative.

“These grants provide a much needed opportunity for Australian musicians to record their own music and it is wonderful to see previous recipients, such as Courtney Barnett, achieve such success,” Mr Grybowski said.

“The Australia Council is committed to supporting new, high quality Australian work and these grants will enable five artists to share their music with new audiences.”
