Ricky Swallow, renowned Australian artist and representative at the 51st Biennale Venezia, will exhibit at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center NY in 2006.
P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center has announced that it will present an exhibition of Australian artist Ricky Swallow. Curated by Klaus Biesenbach, the works are a selection of Swallow’s exhibition at the Biennale Venezia in 2005.
Swallow’s work will be on view at P.S.1 from January until March 2006 during the 2006 The Armory Show in New York.
Renowned for sculptures based on pop iconography, Swallow’s work for the Venice Biennale, and subsequently for P.S.1 focus on the themes at the heart of his art- the passage of time, life, death and immortality, evolution and survival, monuments and memories.
The exhibition features his seminal work Killing Time, a life-size sculptural interpretation of his family dining table, overflowing with the marine life he caught and killed as a child.
P.S.1 is an affiliate of MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art.
