SYDNEY TO HOST WORLD’S LEADING ARTS MINDS FOR BIENNALE DISCUSSION FORUM

The Australia Council for the Arts will host a forum of key international arts delegates in Sydney from July 9 -11 to discuss issues relating to the Biennale model.

The Biennales in Dialogue Forum will feature keynote presentations by the artistic director of the 2007 Venice Biennale and Dean of the Yale School of Art Robert Storr  and Dean of Academic Affairs at San Francisco Art Institute and the artistic director of Documenta 11, Kassel (2002) and of the next Gwangju Biennale, Korea, Okwui Enwezor.

The forum will focus on issues relating to the rapidly developing environment of Biennales and Triennials, and will include perspectives from other important national and international arts events facing a plethora of challenges of global, political and socio-cultural change.

Confirmed forum delegates include curators and directors from  arts events including the Athens Biennial, Sharjah Biennial, India Triennale, Herzliya Biennial (Israel), Taipei Biennale, Singapore Biennale and the Liverpool Biennial (UK).

During the forum, international delegates will meet with Australian arts colleagues including curators and directors of contemporary art spaces, Museum of Contemporary Art, Art Gallery of NSW, Asia Pacific Triennale, Biennale of Sydney and Melbourne Art Fair.

Please note keynote lectures by Okwui Enwezor (Wednesday July 9, 5:00pm at the Art Gallery of NSW) and Robert Storr (Friday July 11, 6:00pm at the Museum of Contemporary Art) are open to the public.

The Biennales in Dialogue Forum is held in association with the Biennale of Sydney.
