Michael Gow’s first full-length play in more than a decade has taken out the 2008 Helpmann Award for Best New Australian Work.
Company B’s production of Toy Symphony, directed by Neil Armfield over a six week season in November 2007, took out the award at a ceremony in Sydney last night.
Other nominees included Andrew Bovell’s When The Rain Stops Falling (Brink Productions), Alana Valentine’s Parramatta Girls (Company B) and Gideon Obarzanek’s Glow (Chunky Move).
The Australia Council for the Arts sponsored the Helpmann Award for Best New Australian Work.
