EMPIRES, RUINS + NETWORKS: The Transcultural Agenda in Art is available now as an illustrated edition.
EMPIRES, RUINS + NETWORKS is a collection of essays written by leading artists, critics and curators. It follows the successful EMPIRES, RUINS + NETWORKS: Art in Real Time Culture conference held in April 2004 at the Australian Centre for Moving Image, Melbourne.
The essays seek to engage with the shifting forms of cultural identity and new modes of cultural production in contemporary society. They examine the role of art in the contemporary world and provoke a dialogue between art and politics.
The Australia Council for the Arts was proud to commission EMPIRES, RUINS + NETWORKS: Art in Real Time Culture conference through its Arts in a Multicultural Australia policy.
EMPIRES, RUINS + NETWORKS: The Transcultural Agenda in Art is available from the Melbourne University Press website or from Readings Bookstores.
