UNDERGROWTH IN THE UK

The first wave of an Australian arts ‘invasion’ has landed in the UK with tours by Australian Dance Theatre and Legs on Wall, the Australian Film Festival and an Australian promotion at the London Book Fair.

It’s the beginning of Undergrowth Australian Arts UK 2005, a program throughout the UK during 2005 and 2006. Over the next two years, UK venues will play host to a wide range of Australian arts companies. The program has been designed to demonstrate the extraordinary variety and depth of Australian work, highlighting contemporary artists from all major artforms.

Undergrowth is an initiative of the Australia International Cultural Council and the Australia Council.

Other Undergrowth performances and events include:

  • Sydney Dance Company and The Necks at the Brighton Festival
  • The Australian Ballet at The Millenium Centre, Cardiff and The Coliseum, London
  • The Goldner String Quartet at the Lichfield Festival and
  • Object: Australian Centre for Craft and Design exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Full details of all the events will be on the Undergrowth website www.undergrowth.org.uk from mid April.
