The Australia Council wishes to acknowledge the passing of Annie Grieg and recognise her contribution to contemporary dance and the arts in Australia.
Grieg spent 18 years as Artistic Director at Tasdance and served on a number of boards and councils including the Tasmanian Cultural Industries Council, Australian Choreographic Centre Advisory Council and Ausdance.
Among her extensive achievements, she was awarded a Bicentennial Medal in 2003, was named on the Tasmanian Honour Roll for Women in 2010 and received the Australian Dance Awards for Services to Dance in 2014.
Australia Council Head of Industry Development and Acting Head of Dance, Jade Lillie said:
“Annie will be remembered for her wisdom, her generosity in supporting and nurturing emerging talent, and her passion as an advocate for the Tasmanian cultural sector. We extend our deepest sympathies to Annie Grieg’s colleagues, friends and family.”
