The Australia Council for the Arts acknowledges the passing of leading First Nations artist Mrs Waal-Waal Ngallametta.
Mrs Ngallametta collected and prepared her own ochres and clays from the landscape to create large scale works rich in colour and imagery.
In 2018 Mrs Ngallametta received the Australia Council’s distinguished Red Ochre Award for Lifetime Achievement.
