The Australia Council wishes to acknowledge the passing of Australian soprano Taryn Fiebig and pay tribute to her impressive contribution to Australian music and culture.
Fiebig performed regularly for Opera Australia and Pinchgut Opera, and as a soloist with a number of major Australasian orchestras.
She won a Helpmann Award in 2010 for Best Female Performer in a Supporting Role in an Opera for her role in Bliss, and again in 2019 for her role in Metamorphosis.
Australia Council Arts CEO Adrian Collette AM said: “I was privileged to know and work with Taryn over many years in my previous role at Opera Australia. She was one of Australia’s most remarkable and versatile opera singers who achieved so much in such a short space of time. Personally, I will remember her for her infectious humour and intelligence, the joy she brought to those around her both on and off the stage, and most of all for her humanity.”
The Australia Council extends its sympathies to Taryn’s husband, Jud Arthur, her step-daughters, Milijana and Lucia, her family, friends and colleagues.
