The Australia Council for the Arts is warning people about a current scam involving callers who claim to be from this organisation.
The caller tells people they are eligible to be reimbursed overcharged bank fees and quotes the name and ABN of the Australia Council. Another caller tells people they are eligible for a refund and leaves a number to call if they want to proceed – a number answered by a voice identifying as the “Australia Council”.
We warn that these are scam calls. The Australia Council is not in the business of reimbursing bank fees or phoning people to offer “refunds”.
