From July 9 – 11, the Australia Council for the Arts hosted a forum of key international arts delegates in Sydney in July to discuss issues relating to the Biennale model.

The Biennales in Dialogue forum focused on issues relating to the rapidly developing environment of Biennales and Triennials, and included perspectives from other important national and international arts events facing a plethora of challenges of global, political and socio-cultural change.

The forum featured the following keynote presentation by the artistic director of the 2007 Venice Biennale and Dean of the Yale School of Art Robert Storr at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Friday July 11.

Robert discussed the role and history of biennales (and art fairs) and the notion and importance of dialogue in art consumption.
