Julian Knights, Chair

Julian was appointed as Chair of the Major Performing Arts Panel on 17 April, 2013. Julian is a Founding Partner of Ironbridge and has 15 years of private equity experience with GPEL and Ironbridge, as well as 17 years of investment banking experience.

Julian was the Founding Managing Director of GPEL and was instrumental in building the GPEL investment team. He led the GPEL involvement in the A$500 million “public to private” of Norcros (a diversified international building products group), was heavily involved in the expansion capital investment in Cashcard Australia (Australia’s largest independent ATM deployer), and the A$125 million secondary MBO of Eurogestion (pest control and hygiene services group). In 2003 Julian became one of the Founding Partners of Ironbridge and was responsible for its strategic development. He has been a member of the Ironbridge Investment Committee since inception and has represented the Ironbridge Funds on the Boards of Mrs Crocket’s Kitchen, Stardex and EnviroWaste.

Julian is a qualified solicitor and holds BComm and LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand. In 2008 Julian was the Chairman of AVCAL (Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association).
