The Australia Council is an industry partner in arts-related projects funded by the Australia Research Council (ARC). |
Summary
Agile Opera draws on the unique circumstances provided within today’s society that sees audiences as increasingly digitally aware. The project supports the creation of innovative performance, exploring the relationship between live engagement and digital artworks. The collaboration between SIAL Sound Studios and Chamber Made Opera allows for technology to be embraced and drawn on to nurture new ways of thinking and working. Ultimately the aim is to maintain the intimacy of Chamber Opera as a cultural force as we move further into a world characterised by mobile devices, a desire for technology-enabled flexibility and instant access.
Agile Chambers (4-10 December 2016)

Methodology
The project is being conducted through a series of Microlabs and performances. The labs involve researchers from diverse disciplines coming together for intensive periods on issues relevant to small arts organisations. Key research questions are explored around the project emphasis on design, audience and artistic issues as well as future thinking around 21st Century opera and connection to cultural, political and social issues.
