Public Interest Disclosure
The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (‘the PID Act’) commenced on 15 January 2014. For the purposes of the PID Act, Creative Australia is a Commonwealth agency compelled to comply with the legislation.
The purpose of the PID Act is “to facilitate disclosure and investigation of wrongdoing and maladministration in the Commonwealth public sector…”.
In summary, the new legislation creates a public interest disclosure scheme which promotes integrity and accountability in the Australian public sector by:
- encouraging and facilitating the disclosure of information by public officials about suspected wrongdoing in the public sector
- ensuring that public officials who make public interest disclosures are supported and protected from adverse consequences
- ensuring that disclosures by public officials are properly investigated and dealt with.
For more information download the Public Interest Disclosure Policy here or email disclosures@creative.gov.au.
Reporting Suspected Fraud or Corruption
Creative Australia encourages anyone, including members of the public, contractors, suppliers and funding recipients, to report suspected fraud or corruption.
This may include dishonest conduct, misuse of public resources, abuse of position, or other suspected wrongdoing involving Creative Australia.
Reports can be made by email to disclosures@creative.gov.au.
Reports may be made anonymously and are handled confidentially in accordance with applicable legislation and Creative Australia policies.
Note: If you are a current or former public official, your report may be assessed as a Public Interest Disclosure under the PID Act. Reports made by members of the public and external parties will be assessed and, where appropriate, investigated under Creative Australia’s fraud control framework and investigation procedures.
