Languages other than English

We accept applications in languages other than English, including Auslan.

If any part of your application needs to be translated into English, please contact the Artists Services Team at least six weeks before the closing date of the round you want to apply to. We will use our best efforts to help have some or all of your application translated.

We will refuse an application in a language other than English if:

  • we believe there is no genuine reason to accept such an application, or
  • there is not enough time to have the materials translated before the funding round is assessed.

If you wish to request an application form in a language other than English, please contact the Artists Services Team at least 12 weeks before the closing date of the round you want to apply to.

We will refuse an application form translation request if:

  • we believe there is no genuine reason for the request, or
  • there is not enough time to have the materials translated before the funding round is assessed.

First Nations languages

The Australia Council acknowledges and supports the use of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.

If you would like to discuss your project or submit your application in your first language, please contact an Indigenous language centre.

See the Office for the Arts website for a list of language centres.

We acknowledge the many Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and honour their Elders past and present.

We respect their deep enduring connection to their lands, waterways and surrounding clan groups since time immemorial. We cherish the richness of First Nations Peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions.

We are privileged to gather on this Country and through this website to share knowledge, culture and art now, and with future generations.

First Nations Peoples should be aware that this website may contain images or names of people who have died.
