Getting paid as an assessor

What will I get paid?

We pay you based on the number of applications you assess and how long the assessment meeting is.

Depending on the program, we may also pay you an administration fee, or for attending an induction meeting.

We pay super in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

Do I need to invoice?

No, not if we are paying you as an individual.

If you ask us to pay you another way – for example, to be your business, your employer, a partnership, or a trust – you will need to give us an invoice from the entity we will pay.

Can I get paid to my business or employer?

Yes. You can ask us to pay your fee to your business or employer, or another entity like a partnership or trust.

You will need to give us an invoice from the entity we will pay.

What type of ABN do I need?

Your ABN needs to be active and registered in your name as an individual/sole trader for us to pay you without an invoice using your ABN.

You can use ABN Lookup to check your details.

What if I don’t have an ABN?

You can give us a Statement by a supplier to get paid as an individual without an ABN (Australian Business Number), or you can ask us to pay your business or employer instead.

How long does it take to get paid?

Up to four weeks from the end of the assessment process.

If you ask us to pay your fee to your business or employer, you will need to give us an invoice, which we will pay within 30 days.

What can I do to make sure my payment is not held up?

You can log in in to the Application Management System as a ‘Grantee’ and make sure your personal information and bank details are correct.

We will ask you to confirm this information before we pay you.

We will also ask you to confirm the information we need to pay you super:

  • full name
  • address
  • date of birth
  • email
  • phone number
  • gender.

What if I am in financial hardship?

Please tell us, so we can talk about your options and help make sure you get paid on time.

Getting super

Will I get super?

Yes. If you are an Australian resident for tax purposes, we will pay you superannuation, or super, in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

You can find out more about super at Creative Workplaces – Superannuation

What do I need to do to get super?

Tell us your super fund by giving us a completed Superannuation standard choice form.

You can find out more about the form at the ATO website.

You should also log in in to the Application Management System as a ‘Grantee’ and make sure all the information we need to pay you super is correct. We need your:

  • full name
  • address
  • date of birth
  • email
  • phone number
  • gender.

We will ask you to confirm these details before we pay you.

Is Creative Australia doing Payday Super?

Yes. From 1 July 2026, we pay your super at the same time we pay your fee.

This is known as Payday Super. You can find out more about the change at ATO – About Payday Super and Creative Workplaces – Superannuation

If you don’t tell us your super fund by the time we pay your fee, your super will go to our default fund, Australian Retirement Trust.

I have assessed before. Do I need to send my super details again?

No. If we already have your super details and they have not changed, you can ask us to use them again.

We will confirm the details with you before we pay you.

What happens if I don’t choose a super fund?

Your super will be paid to our default super fund, Australian Retirement Trust

My super was paid to the default fund. How do I find it?

You can set up online access at Australian Retirement Trust Member Online, or call Australian Retirement Trust on 13 11 84.

You can also use ATO online services through myGov to combine your super accounts and search for lost super. You can find more information at MyGov – Managing your super.
