Be captivated by Australian theatre

Australian theatre offers unique opportunities to connect, explore diverse stories and perspectives, celebrate the creation of shared experiences and encounters only possible in the realm of live theatre. At Creative Australia we support an innovative and diverse theatre sector. We also recognise that the art form of theatre is constantly evolving, and we remain open to what theatre could be or mean into the future.

Applicants to the theatre panel include artists working across performing arts genres such as text-based theatre, devised theatre, verbatim theatre, live art, participatory theatre, contemporary circus, physical theatre, visual theatre, puppetry, music theatre, cabaret and theatre by, for and with children and young people.

We acknowledge the many Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and honour their Elders past and present.

We respect their deep enduring connection to their lands, waterways and surrounding clan groups since time immemorial. We cherish the richness of First Nations Peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions.

We are privileged to gather on this Country and through this website to share knowledge, culture and art now, and with future generations.

First Nations Peoples should be aware that this website may contain images or names of people who have died.
