The first national giving day to the arts has kicked off with a bang, with more than 330 artists and arts organisations raising money and awareness for creativity across the country.

Nine incredible arts organisations around the nation have also been selected to have their campaigns supported today by Creative Australia’s Plus1 initiative.

This means every dollar raised by the following organisations will be matched by Creative Australia, up to a fixed value between $12,000 and $50,000:

  • Adelaide Youth Orchestra
  • BlakDance Australia Ltd
  • Encounter Theatre Inc.
  • Flipside Circus Ltd
  • Gravity & Other Myths Operations
  • GUTS Dance Central Australia Incorporated
  • Spare Parts Puppet Theatre Inc.
  • Umbrella Studio Contemporary Arts
  • Writing NSW

The investment by Creative Australia is in addition to the $500,000 provided in microgrant funding to more than 100 AusArt Day participants. Additionally, all participants have been provided access to resources, workshops, and advertising materials to help them create and prepare for successful AusArt Day fundraising campaigns.

Almost 520 artists and arts workers took part in workshops between April and September to share insights on how to run a national giving day, with topics ranging from effective marketing strategies to financial sustainability.

Creative Australia Board Member and AusArt Day Ambassador Alexandra Dimos said: “Whether it’s live music, theatre, writing, sculpture, visual arts, drama, cabaret or supporting the talent of the future, we know Australians are so proud of our nation’s creativity.

“Today is the day to get behind AusArt Day and make a donation to the artists that matter to you. Every dollar makes a massive difference.”

We respect their deep enduring connection to their lands, waterways and surrounding clan groups since time immemorial. We cherish the richness of First Nations Peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions.

We are privileged to gather on this Country and through this website to share knowledge, culture and art now, and with future generations.

First Nations Peoples should be aware that this website may contain images or names of people who have died.
