Wesley is a proud Quandamooka man, celebrated playwright and artistic director whose deep cultural and artistic leadership has shaped Australian theatre and storytelling for more than three decades.

He is the first First Nations Australian in the organisation’s history to be appointed Chair, and the first practicing artist in more than two decades.

Wesley has a deep and long-standing relationship with the organisation and sector, having worked for and alongside Creative Australia and its predecessor, the Australia Council, since 1993. He served as Chair of the First Nations Arts and Culture Strategy Panel from 2014 to 2021, and most recently as Deputy Chair of the Board of Creative Australia.

Creative Australia looks forward to working under Wesley’s leadership, continuing to support a thriving and inclusive national arts and culture sector.
