Registrations are now open for Creative Australia’s Leadership Lab – Adelaide on Thursday 24 September, 9am-5pm (ACST), the second of a series of Labs scheduled for 2026.

This free, one-day, in-person event has been designed for artists and arts workers to develop their leadership and changemaking skills.

For the Adelaide event Celia Coulthard, Programming Executive for First Nations work at Adelaide Festival Centre, and Yusuf Hayat, Artist and Independent Producer, will curate local presenters and facilitators.

Also presenting are systems change facilitators: Anna Powell (Collaboration for Impact); Euan Black (The Australian Centre for Social Innovation); and Shona Erskine (AFOCAL).  A full list of presenters and program schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

I’ve really enjoyed re-thinking what my concept of leadership means… Advocating for change, that’s a style of leadership that I think I can connect with.

– Emma Corrick, Head of Programming at Darwin Festival and participant at Leadership Lab – Darwin  ·

The Leadership Labs sit somewhere between a workshop and a conference. Participants are supported to deepen their understanding of the systems they live and work within, and to collaboratively explore responses to the challenges of navigating these systems in a rapidly changing and intersectional environments.

The program includes:

  • a keynote presentation
  • a choice of nine breakout sessions hosted by local and interstate presenters
  • interactive activities that value participants' perspectives and strengths
  • facilitated conversations that prioritise diverse voices.

Following the lab, participants will leave with:

  • fresh perspectives on the system they’re part of
  • new and nourished relationships across their local arts and culture community
  • a resource pack to share with their community, collective or team.

Program details are available on our webpage and our registration page.

We recognise that big change takes time, so in these Leadership Labs, we want to support participants to focus on small, intentional steps that build capability. We hope they will help you work within the real constraints you face while gradually improving the systems you’re in.
