Established in 2019, WAYACOMP is WA's only competition for young people that is purely dedicated to chamber music. The competition offers exciting cash prizes to students to inspire and reward the efforts of young musicians working together.

About

The WA Young Artists Chamber Music Program (WAYACHAMP) was founded in 2011 to provide young musicians with an exceptional chamber music education that promotes excellence, skill development, and artistic exploration. Since the program's inception in 2011, over 2500 West Australian students have participated in WAYACHAMP activities, from the Kimberley to the Great Southern. In addition, the program's Works for Us initiative has commissioned five new works by Australian composers. The program invites students to learn, create, collaborate, and perform.

We acknowledge the many Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and honour their Elders past and present.

We respect their deep enduring connection to their lands, waterways, and surrounding clan groups since time immemorial. We cherish the richness of First Nations peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions. We are privileged to gather on this Country and to share knowledge, culture and art, now and with future generations.
