Owning our own sound equipment means more live events, lower production costs and greater opportunities for local artists and our community.
About
The Kuranda Amphitheatre is a 3,000-capacity, community-built arts and cultural venue nestled in the rainforest of Far North Queensland. For 50 years, this extraordinary venue has been 100% volunteer owned and managed by the community that built it. Across five decades, the Amphitheatre has brought generations together through live music, theatre, festivals, First Nations cultural events, community celebrations, workshops and creative projects. It has welcomed internationally recognised performers alongside local and emerging artists, while remaining deeply rooted in the creative and cultural life of Kuranda. Fifty years of community ownership is something worth celebrating, but maintaining and activating a venue of this scale is an enormous undertaking for a volunteer organisation. As we enter our next 50 years, we are working to strengthen the Amphitheatre’s production capacity, support more artists to take to our stages, and ensure this remarkable community-owned venue continues to bring people together through arts and culture for generations to come.
We acknowledge the many Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and honour their Elders past and present.
We respect their deep enduring connection to their lands, waterways, and surrounding clan groups since time immemorial. We cherish the richness of First Nations peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions. We are privileged to gather on this Country and to share knowledge, culture and art, now and with future generations.
