Overview

Based on in-depth interviews with 12 businesses across higher education, financial services, legal services and energy, the report shows that businesses remain committed to arts partnerships but are assessing them more closely as budgets tighten. They seek partnerships that strengthen their reputation, engage clients and staff, connect with communities, and deliver clear value.

The research identifies five foundations for successful partnerships: reputation, value, people, professionalism and results. Businesses want tailored proposals that reflect their objectives rather than standard sponsorship packages. They value partners who understand their needs, communicate clearly, meet commitments and adapt as circumstances change.

Strong relationships are central to sustaining partnerships, particularly through changes in staff, strategy or economic conditions. Businesses also expect meaningful reporting and evaluation that demonstrates outcomes through relevant data, feedback and compelling stories.

The report offers practical guidance for arts organisations to research prospective partners, create bespoke opportunities, build relationships across an organisation, remain flexible, and agree on measures of success from the outset.

We respect their deep enduring connection to their lands, waterways and surrounding clan groups since time immemorial. We cherish the richness of First Nations Peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions.

We are privileged to gather on this Country and through this website to share knowledge, culture and art now, and with future generations.
