Creative Australia continues to evolve to better support arts and creativity in Australia. Since being established through the National Cultural Policy: Revive as an evolution of the Australia Council for the Arts, Creative Australia has taken on new functions and increased investment in Australia’s creative sector. Our strategy sets out how we will build on this growth over the coming years and guide our next phase of development, so we can support a thriving, innovative creative sector and share Australia’s arts and culture with audiences at home and around the world.

Our strategy is built around four strategic pillars which set out the outcomes we aim to achieve across the life of the strategy.

First Nations First

A self-determined First Nations arts and cultural sector enables strong communities, culture, and country.

A strong creative ecosystem

Through strategic investment and development, a thriving creative sector engages audiences and communities with the best Australian creative work.

A capable and valued creative sector

Working with the sector, our insights inform government policy and initiatives, support sector capability and communicate the value of arts and culture to all Australians.

Good governance, expert people and operations

We build the capacity of Creative Australia’s people and systems to deliver sustainable and rewarding outcomes for the Australian creative sector and public.

We acknowledge the many Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and honour their Elders past and present.

We respect their deep enduring connection to their lands, waterways and surrounding clan groups since time immemorial. We cherish the richness of First Nations Peoples’ artistic and cultural expressions.

We are privileged to gather on this Country and through this website to share knowledge, culture and art now, and with future generations.

First Nations Peoples should be aware that this website may contain images or names of people who have died.
