Venice Architecture Biennale 2025 

Dr Michael Mossman, Emily McDaniel, Jack Gillmer-Lilley, Kaylie Salvatori, Clarence Slockee, Bradley Kerr and Elle Davidson are the Creative Sphere (artistic team) for the Australia Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.  

The exhibition will run from 10 May to 23 November 2025 

About the Creative Sphere 

Dr Michael Mossman

Born in Cairns, Gimuy Walabara Yidinji Country, in 1975. Lives and works in Sydney, Gadigal Country. 

Dr Michael Mossman is a Kuku Yalanji man who lectures and researches at the University of Sydney School of Architecture Design and Planning. He is an architect who champions Country and First Nations cultures as agents for structural change in the broader architectural profession at educational, practice and policy levels. 

Emily McDaniel

Born in Liverpool, Dharug Country, in 1988. Lives and works in Sydney, Gadigal Country. 

Emily McDaniel is a Wiradjuri woman from the Kalari (Lachlan River) and a Professor of Practice in the School of Architecture at the University of Technology, Sydney. Her curatorial practice employs Country-centred methodologies and actively engages with truth-telling and storytelling, in collaboration with First Nations communities, creative practitioners, architects and designers. 

Jack Gillmer-Lilley

Born in Gosford, Darkinjung Country, in 1993. Lives and works in Sydney, Gadigal Country. 

Jack Gillmer-Lilley is a Worimi and Biripi Guri and associate and First Nations lead at SJB Architecture, Sydney. Interested in the intersection of cultural knowledge systems and the built environment, he seeks to enable Country as co-designer and collaborator of narrative and architectural approach to place. 

Kaylie Salvatori

Born in Sydney, Bidgigal/Bedegal Country, in 1986. Lives and works in Blue Mountains, Gundungurra-Dharug Country. 

Kaylie Salvatori is a Saltwater Yuin Woman living and working on Gundungurra and Dharug lands. She is a landscape architect and founding director of COLA Studio (Country Oriented Landscape Architecture), which is one of the few Aboriginal- owned landscape design studios in Australia.  

Clarence Slockee

Born in Gold Coast, Bundjalung Country, in 1968. Lives in Wollongong, Tharawal Country; Works across Gadigal, Dharug, Tharawal, Gundungurra Countries. 
Clarence Slockee is an Aboriginal man from the Mindjingbal/Cudgenburra clan of the Bundjalung Nation on the NSW far north coast and is an accomplished musician and dancer. Clarence is currently the Director of Jiwah, a company specialising in community engagement to deliver best practise outcomes in horticulture, permaculture, ecology, urban biodiversity, plant thematic and landscape design.  

Bradley Kerr

Born in Canberra, Ngunnawal Country, in 1990. Lives and works in Melbourne, Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung Country. 

Bradley Kerr is a Quandamooka man and architect living, working and learning on Wurundjeri Country, Bradley is Director of Naarm-based architecture and design studio Winsor Kerr, a curator and is chair of the Australian Institute of Architects’ First Nations Advisory Committee. 

Elle Davidson

Born in Darlinghurst, Gadigal Country, in 1988. Lives and works in Mullumbimby, Bundjalung Country. 

Elle Davidson is a Balanggarra woman from the East Kimberley with family connections to Captain William Bligh. She describes herself as being caught in the cross-winds of Australia's story, which positions her well to promote strengthened cross-cultural relations.
