Assessment of programs under the Visual Art, Craft and Design Framework (VACDF) comprises the following processes.
Assessment for VACDF investment for individuals and groups
Application process
Applicants to VACDF Major Commissioning Projects submit their applications and support material by the due date.
Assessment process
Applications are reviewed by peer assessors against the published assessment criteria for VACDF Major Commissioning Projects. Find out more about peer assessment in how we assess applications.
Assessment for VACDF investment for organisations
Invitations for applications
This is an invitation only category for Australian visual arts organisations. The cohort of organisations funded under the VACDF is determined every four years through an invitation round followed by an assessment process.
Informed by their knowledge of the arts ecology within their jurisdictions, state and territory governments nominate which organisations will receive invitations within relevant jurisdictions. Creative Australia issues the invitations. The amount organisations can apply for, and the amount of funding awarded, is determined by Creative Australia in consultation with relevant state and territory arts funding agencies.
Applicants are also asked to submit a strategic plan, artistic program, financial projections and recent audits.
Assessment process
Applications are reviewed by industry advisors in a competitive grant process against three criteria:
- Quality of artistic or cultural vision and achievements
- Organisational capacity
- Contribution to one or more of the VACDF objectives
Final recommendation on investment decisions are made by officials of Creative Australia and relevant state or territory contributing funding partners. These decisions are based on the responses and advice provided by industry advisors in their reviews of the applications. Approval of the investment is made by the Australia Council Board of Creative Australia (and the respective decision-making authority within each funding agency).
